Virginia Social Indicator Summary (VASIS)

Virginia Young Adult Survey

The YAS is a periodic survey of young adults across Virginia designed to better understand behavioral health needs and experiences. The survey is open to young adults ages 18–25 and asks about topics such as substance use, mental health, gambling, and other health-related behaviors. It takes about 15 minutes to complete, and participants may be eligible to receive a small thank-you gift for their time. The survey is led by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) in partnership with Omni Institute, a nonprofit organization that works closely with Community Services Boards (CSBs) and community coalitions statewide. Past surveys were conducted in 2022 and 2024, and results are available at www.vasis.org/yas.

The HTDPC in conjunction with Colonial Behavioral Health, is coordinating survey outreach in the Historic Triangle area. If you work closely with young adults in our community, we would truly appreciate your help sharing this opportunity with the individuals you serve. The survey is primarily completed online, but we also have paper surveys available if preferred. Please contact jtramuel@colonialbh.org to request a paper survey(s) via email. The survey is accessible to Spanish-, Pashto-, and Dari-speaking populations.
