The mission of the HTDPC is to engage community stakeholders in a coordinated and collaborative effort focused on evidence-influenced prevention, education, and advocacy, with the goal of reducing the negative impacts of substance use and misuse in James City County, York County, and the cities of Poquoson and Williamsburg.

Mental Health First Aid – Youth

8:30 AM Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. YJCW NAACP Juneteenth Community Fest

1:00 PM Join the NAACP and James City County at America’s First Free Black Settlement in honor of Juneteenth. Enjoy live music, readings, performances and a presentation on the history of Juneteenth in Freedom Park. Local vendors and food will be on-site for purchase. Free admission. Located at 5537 Centerville Road.

Juneteenth Commemoration

5:30 PM This 4th annual free and alcohol-free community event promises an exciting day filled with music, culture, and fun for all ages. A high-energy concert from local favorite SLAPNATION, performing live from 7 to 9 p.m. The celebration will be hosted by none other than Doc Christian, the dynamic radio personality from Groove 101.9, who will serve as the event MC, keeping the crowd engaged and the energy high.  Admission is free, and all are welcome. Parking will be available on-site. Come out and celebrate with us as we honor the history, resilience, and contributions of the Black community in America. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
